Multidimensional power
Power operates through coercion, institutions, information, networks, symbolism, legitimacy, agenda-setting, reputation, organization, and infrastructure—not only force.
Definition
Political asymmetry is multidimensional. A materially weak actor can possess informational or symbolic leverage, while a materially strong institution can remain dominant across nearly every dimension.

Why it matters
Reducing power to physical force hides the quieter mechanisms that shape what can be known, organized, discussed, or imagined. It also prevents romantic claims that weakness is secretly strength.
