Source integrity

Definition

Source integrity means that an AI system does not quietly overwrite the thing it was asked to preserve. Transformations should be explicit derivatives with provenance when the source itself matters.

Also used here as: provenance-preserving transformation, no covert rewrite.

Why it matters

A hidden rewrite can make later review impossible because the record of what the user actually supplied has disappeared. Preserving source and derivative separately protects auditability and correction.
