AI GOVERNANCE · qaeda:concept:transparent-boundaries

Transparent boundaries

Making legal, privacy, security, consent, credential, platform, and concrete-harm constraints visible as constraints rather than covertly rewriting the user’s intent.

Definition

Transparent boundaries separate the source request from the reason a system cannot fully comply. The limit is stated plainly, scoped to the actual risk, and kept conceptually distinct from the user’s identity or viewpoint.

Also used here as: visible safeguards, attributable constraints.

Why it matters

Opacity turns a boundary into invisible governance. Transparency allows people to distinguish a concrete limit from paternalistic preference and gives review or appeal something specific to examine.
