Nonviolent resistance
Political pressure through protest, refusal, civil disobedience, noncooperation, association, and other nonviolent means rather than attacks on people.
Definition
Nonviolence is not passivity. It can impose political costs and force negotiation while refusing to make injury to persons the mechanism of change.
Also used here as: civil resistance, nonviolent dissent.
Why it matters
The reports treat nonviolent resistance as both morally significant and empirically serious without turning comparative success findings into a universal law. The project keeps the analysis historical and non-operational.
